#LIVE LENT 2021

This year our celebration of Lent will help us to reflect on how we live out God’s Story in our day to day lives, so that his Story becomes our Story, which is shared and lived with others.

Based on the book Living his Story by Hannah Steele these daily resources encourage us to share with others ‘what we have seen’ of God working in our lives.

Hannah writes: “The gospel of Jesus Christ is a story, but it is quite unlike any other story we will ever encounter. In fact it is not something that we simply hear and understand but a reality in which we live and find our sense of belonging. His story is the living story that makes sense of all the other stories in our lives.”

This daily resource comes in a printed edition available from our Church Office or by receiving a daily email click here or can be acquired by downloading the # LIVE LENT app available on the App Store or on Google Play

THE LENT COURSE THIS YEAR

Due to the uncertainty of the ending of lockdown and the return of meeting in person, we are taking our weekly Lent course this year online. From Thursday 18th February we are going to be using the course Fruitfulness on the Frontline by the London Institute for Christianity.

Where you are now truly matters to God.

We all have an everyday context that’s significant to God, full of people who matter to God. But can we see how God might have been working in and through us on our frontlines? And can we imagine what more God might want to do there? Brimming with real-life stories, biblical insight, and practical steps, this resource will spark your imagination and enrich your sense of wonder at the greatness and grace of the God who invites us to join his glorious work.

We are encouraging Home groups to run with this if they want to continue to meet, or to join a central event which will be held each week online from Thursday 18th February at 8.00pm. This course will also be supported through our weekly sermons during the season of Lent. To sign in for this course please send an email to [email protected] and mark it Lent Course Log-in.

LENT APPEAL 2021

The ACTS 2 Fund was set up over 10 years ago by one of our curates to respond to the immediate needs faced by those in the parish. Taking its name and its focus from the life of the early church in Acts 2: 42-ff and especially the verses that reads “All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.” Acts 2:44-45.

Over time we have given financial and prayer support where household items breakdown and individuals haven’t the resources to replace or mend them. We have helped people move into new accommodation and provided support for families to have a short break, or pay bills that have suddenly appeared. We have worked in partnership with the Lions and Lionesses to support individuals with larger items. In short, the fund has been widely used and individuals have been grateful for the support offered.

It is now reaching the end of the funds and so this year the St Andrew’s Lent Appeal is for the ACTS 2 FUND, to enable us to carry on supporting people at times of need. If you would like to donate, we will be having a giving week from Mon. 5th-Fri. 9th April, the week after Easter. This year we are encouraging everyone to donate by cheque or bank transfer, we will not be collecting cash donations. Watch this space for further details.
